WHATS THE BEST LCD TV WITHIN A REASONABLE PRICE RANGE?

Im flummoxed over all the HD argot with XD school and HDMI gubbins. I bought a 26in phillips lcd a patch back for nearly £700 and had to beam it back as the represent was awful! Great when someone was stagnant ease but foggy with some movement. And some book on concealment for ads or the same was pixelated and wrinkled looking. For the xbox360 it was heaven but as a connatural tv, my old 21in crt is better. Theres so some lcds and plasmas discover today its impracticable to amount discover what to intend at a commonsensible toll without transfer bag added duff product. Cheers for some help

      I’m not going to sit here like everyone else and tell you to buy a certain brand. There IS no best brand. All LCD tvs are built by a total of about 5 or 6 different companies world-wide. They all use the same building process and materials. They are just built to the specs of the brand name and the brand names logo is slapped on the tv. Here is what to look for when buying an LCD tv.
      1. Contrast ratio should be the highest you can afford. 1600:1 or better.
      2. Response time should be between 4ms and 8ms. This is important for playing game consoles and any fast moving objects on the screen. Lowest is best.
      3. Brightness should be at least 500cd.
      4. There should be at least 2 HDMI inputs for cable, DVD, sound system etc.
      You will find that the prices in LCDs exist in the contrast ratio, response times and the number of HDMI inputs. And some of the less priced models have “B” grade panels instead of the higher end “A” panels. But you will not notice a difference so this is really a non-issue. Remember that brand name should really be your last requirement when shopping for a tv. Good luck.

      i agree with everyone else sony. But a tad disappointed that no-one else has picked up on the blurred vision. ALL lcds will have this no matter what the response rate is ( due to the technology inside ). So if watching sport, you will get this ” lagging ” / ” ghousting ” / ” trailing ” image.
      It’s one of the downside to lcds

      There are 2-3 companys that make just the display them selves.
      Besides that, its the electronics that make a good picture and that is reliable. That is what Sony is known for.
      Philips and off brand products are mainly samsungs inside but with a slapped logo on the outside.
      The Sony line is the top in LCD quality and reliability.
      Toshiba would be the next step down, then panasonic,LG,hitachi,mitsubishi, anything else not mentioned is garbage.

      iv had a sony bravia for a while now, its a great picture on hd but i think the extra charge for hd chanels is a rip off. best of luck.
